LEE MERRITT

Lee Merritt is a National Civil Rights lawyer and activist whose practice focuses on ending police brutality and dismantling mass incarceration. Founder of the Merritt Law Firm and co-founder of the American Black Cross-- Merritt represents victims of discrimination and state violence and works with an international network of organizers to address various human rights issues.

SHAUN KING

Recently hailed by Time Magazine as one of the 25 Most Influential People in the World on the Internet, Shaun King is a skilled organizer and is the Co-Founder of Real Justice, which has helped elect brave new District Attorneys all over the country. His daily podcast, The Breakdown, has become famous for its practical action steps for social good. He is a fierce advocate for families impacted by police brutality, white supremacy, and mass incarceration.

ADEMALI SENGAL

Adem is a Senior Organizer for the Grassroots Law Project, and served on the Beto for Texas campaign as a Senior Field Manager in 2018.

BRANDON EVANS

Brandon is the Political Director of Grassroots Law Project. He ran Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner’s first campaign. Prior to working with Krasner, he’s worked in labor and has run state and local campaigns.

DAWN JONES

Dawn helped launch the student organizing effort for the Bernie 2020 presidential campaign.

DAVID ROBIN

David is the Social Media Manager at Grassroots Law Project. He is the co-founder of Millennials for Bernie Sanders and was previously the Campaign Manager for Moumita Ahmed for NY City Council and Senior Social Media Strategist at Middle Seat.

DIANA DAVILA ELIZONDO

Diana manages organizing staff at Grassroots Law. Previously, she worked as a senior field manager on the Beto for Texas campaign and as an organizer for GetUp Australia

KIM YOUNGBLOOD

KYNA WILTZ

Kim is a Senior Organizer for the Grassroots Law Project, and served as a Organizing Field Manager on the Beto for Texas Senate campaign in 2018.

Kyna is an Organizer for the Grassroots Law Project. Previously she worked on several campaigns including Beto, Biden, Ossoff, and the Virginia coordinated campaign. She was also a part of the Biden inaugural committee National Day of Service.

ANTONIA RIVERA HERNANDEZ

Antonia is an organizer with GLP. She previously worked as a constituency organizer for Bernie 2020

MARYAM AMJADI

Maryam was an Organizing Manager at Beto for Texas and later Beto for America before joining the team at Grassroots Law Project.

MATTHEW HINDERS-ANDERSON

Matthew is the Senior Web Designer at Grassroots Law Project, previously working as the lead designer and web developer for 350.org.

ROB LORD

Rob was National Advance Desk for the Bernie 2020 presidential campaign.

PJ MARTINEZ

PJ was an Organizing Manager with Beto O'Rourke's Senate campaign and a Regional Field Director for Bernie 2020. He has worked registering young voters in Texas with Texas Rising and MOVE Texas.

SADAE WILLIAMS

Sadae is Lead Social Media Manager and Curator at The Grassroots Law Project. She is an experienced social media communications expert for social impact brands and global organizations founded in complex industries.

TAYLOR JONES

Taylor is an organizer for the Grassroots Law Project, and served on the Beto for Texas and America campaigns as a Regional Field Manager in 2018 & 2020 and the Virginia Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy in 2019.

ZOË WONG-WEISSMAN

Zoë is the Digital Director for Grassroots Law Project. Previously, she served as Managing Digital Strategist at Middle Seat and Digital Campaigner at 350.org. She has raised millions of dollars online and recruited hundreds of thousands of people to protest, volunteer, and take meaningful, mass action around the nation.

NICOLE BELL

In 2006, long before hashtags and trending topics, 23 year old Sean Bell, the beloved partner of Nicole Bell, was brutally murdered by the NYPD in a hail of 50 bullets just hours before his wedding. Sean was unarmed, non-violent, and broke no laws. Nicole has been a determined voice for justice ever since and works closely with families impacted by police brutality.

CEPHUS “UNCLE BOBBY” JOHNSON

One of the most important advocates for families impacted by police violence in the country, “Uncle Bobby,” as he is affectionately known, was the Uncle of Oscar Grant, who was murdered by police in Oakland in 2009.

WANDA COOPER JONES

Before the nation knew the story of her dear son, Ahmaud Arbery, Wanda Cooper-Jones reached out to our founders, Shaun and Lee, for help. We organized our campaign to fight for justice for Ahmaud in partnership with Wanda and her family and continue to work with them regularly.

TRACI KEARNEY

Traci Kearney is the wife of Christopher Kearney, who is wrongly accused of murder and is currently awaiting trial. The Grassroots Law Project raised the funds for his defense team and is advocating for his innocence.

RODRICK REED

Rodrick Reed is the younger brother of Rodney Reed, who was wrongly charged, convicted, and sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit. Rodrick was our close partner in our successful campaign to halt Rodney’s execution.

PAMELA WOODS

Pamela Woods is the beloved sister of the late Nate Woods - who was wrongly arrested, charged, and executed for a murder that he had absolutely nothing to do with. We worked alongside Pamela to try to stop this unjust execution and will be working with her in the future to advocate for cases that many deem untouchable.
